History

Nestled within the Yale University district of New Haven, Connecticut, this location has a long tradition as a venue for ceramic arts.

In 1991 the Mud Gallery opened its doors at 89 Howe Street as a showcase for local clay artists under the direction of E. Niki Papadopoulos and Chris Alexiades. By 1996 the space was transformed into the private working studio of Chris Alexiades and Kristen Muller - both graduates from the SCSU Ceramic Arts program. 2005 saw the recent evolution as Clay Studio New Haven LLC was established as a collaborative between Chris Alexiades and Laura Litvinoff. Part retail gallery and part working studio, Clay Studio New Haven invites the artistically curious to visit our space.

Clay Studio New Haven continues to be a creative presence in the Chapel West neighborhood, offering handcrafted ceramics and learning opportunities for the surrounding community.
